Data Science: The Emergence and Development of a Nascent Technical Occupation.

Research Description:
In my research project I look into the emergence and institutionalization of data science as a new occupation. I focus on the skills, social structure and the aspired jurisdiction of this new occupation, and the symbolic boundaries forming within it.
Background:
Interested in occupational culture and identity. Bachelor’s degree in Poetics and Comparative Literature, the translation and editing program, Tel Aviv University. Masters in Culture Research, Tel Aviv University. Currently I am a PhD candidate in Sociology, University of Haifa. Worked as a research and teaching assistant at Tel Aviv University and Lecturer of Hebrew, academic writing and learning skills at Al-Ahalyiaa Community College. Recently taught a research seminar in the sociology of occupations and professions at the University of Haifa. Married to Dvir, and mother of dragons, Uri an Ran.
